College Comparison: Don’t Try This in School
Compared to college, most say that high school is a breeze. You can aspire to be the best you can be and use your classmates as role models or compare yourself to them and do better.
But that’s a trap you don’t want to fall into in college.
Don’t stress if it takes you a little longer to complete your homework in college. Don’t fret if your college note taking isn’t as excellent as the person sitting next to you. Don’t be disappointed if you’re studying late one night and your friends opt to go out to the movies.
We may all be attending the same college, but we’re all different. We have different study habits from our friends, different styles, different personalities, and different backgrounds. We’ll end up taking the same classes and leading different lifestyles. There’s no reason to use this as a grounds for comparison because we’re not the same.
College is not high school. It’s different, it’s rewarding, and it’s what you make of it. If you put yourself into a comparison mode and look at your peers only to be better than them, you’ll stress yourself out and might even drop out of college due to the overwhelming panic it may place on you. Enjoy college, soak in the rays, and bask in the sunshine. Trust me, it’s much better than being in the real world, so take advantage of it while it lasts.
