Protect Your Facebook Privacy: Block Beacon

If you’re an avid user of Facebook, you might know that recently it allowed you to track your expenditures via many well-known sites (Overstock, Zappos, eBay, etc.) and would display your buying behavior in your News Feed. Well, if you don’t want the entire world to know what you bought, you can opt out. WikiHow explains how:

  1. Log onto your Facebook profile.
  2. Click the Privacy tab
  3. Click on the “Edit Settings” link on the “External Websites” section of the page.
  4. Click on “Don’t Allow Any Websites to Send Stories to my Profile”.

That’s it. Your friends need not know that you just bought yourself another one of those porn educational DVDs.
