For a Career, Start Early
When I started school, I was taking advantage of my newfound freedom while juggling with new classes. That’s a great step in the right direction, but when summer comes around, you should be adequately prepared to get your foot in the door come graduation time.
Look into summer employment opportunities and internships early. The best time to do this would be late September or early October, because that is when recruiters visit campus. Generally, these individuals are seeking out juniors and seniors for full-time employment, but it doesn’t hurt to brush up your resume and get acquainted with the influencers who may eventually get you that coveted position.
Network early and often. Visit career fairs. Take advantage of the opportunities available to you before your friends do (and the competition) and you’ll be sure to land yourself a respectable job before the crunch.
